Personality and Attitude

Aside from the fact that you will be spending a lot of time with the photographer on the day of, you need to get along. Try to meet different photographers and get a feel for how your personalities get along. You want someone that is professional, friendly, and listens to your needs.

Portfolio

All photographers have portfolios of their work. Ask to have a look at each potential photographer’s portfolio and decide if you like what you see. You probably want some originality and unique photographs. So, if you see the same pose or setting repeatedly, it’s probably not the photographer for you. Have a look at how the photographer uses the different elements of photography.

Finished Product

Before making a decision, ask to see a completed product. If a wedding package includes an album and framed print, ask to see it. It is important to see whether the end product is what you want or not. There is no sense in paying for an album if you don’t want one.

Reviews and Referrals

You can also ask friends and family if they know photographers that they can recommend. Photographers with a good reputation are your best shot.
